Slow cooked Italian Beef sandwiches make everyone happy.
Ingredients
- 3 pound chuck roast
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers plus 1/4 cup pepperoncini juice
- 1 cup giardiniera, drained
- 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil
- Hoagie buns and provolone cheese for serving
Instructions
- Heat oven to 300 degrees.
- Mix the Italian seasoning, sugar, salt and pepper together. Season the beef all over with the seasoning mixture.
- Heat avocado oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Sear the beef for about 3 minutes per side until a nice crust forms. Remove the beef and set aside. Add the broth to the pan and scrape up the brown bits. Add the beef back to the pan and add the pepperoncinis, pepperoncini juice and giardiniera on top.
- Cover and transfer to the oven. Cook for 3-4 hours until the beef is tender. Remove from the oven and shred the beef.
- Increase the oven temp to 400 degrees. Toast the buns for 5 minutes then top with beef, cheese, and more beef. Toast until the cheese is melted.
