Pizza Pasta - Olive Branch Oil & Spice

Your favorite pizza toppings made into a delicious baked pasta! 

Ingredients

  • 1 pound penne pasta
  • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 pepperoni sausage, chopped 
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 4 ounces cremini mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 jar marinara sauce
  • 1 ball mozzarella cheese, pulled into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons Pizza Seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons Roasted Garlic Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Bring a large salted pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta to al dente.
  3. While the pasta cooks, make the sauce. Heat the olive oil in a large ovenproof skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and chopped pepperoni and saute for about 5 minutes until browned, breaking the sausage into small pieces.
  4. Add the bell pepper, mushrooms, pizza seasoning and salt. Saute for another 5 minutes until the bell pepper begins to soften.  Add the marinara sauce, fill the marinara sauce jar about 1/3 full of water and add to the skillet. Stir to combine and reduce the heat to low. 
  5. When the pasta is cooked, drain and add to the sauce. Toss well to combine. Top the pasta with the parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, and sliced pepperoni. 
  6. Transfer to the oven and cook for about 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the pepperonis are crisp.
