Sticky Five Spice Chicken and Cabbage

This is a super flavorful, one pan dinner, that comes together in a snap. 

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds bone in chicken (breasts, thighs or a combination)
  • 1 head of savoy cabbage, sliced into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese Five Spice
  • 1 tablespoon chili crisp (optional)
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 1 teaspoon White Sesame Seed
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Fused Extra Virgin Olive Oil 
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

 Instructions

  1. Mix the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and chinese five spice together. Place the chicken in a food storage container and rub all over with the marinade - under and over the skin.  Marinate for at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
  2. Heat the oven to 425 degrees.  Place the chicken on one side of a sheet pan or roasting pan and the cabbage on the other. Toss the cabbage with the olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast for 35-45 minutes until the chicken in cooked to an internal temp of 165 degrees.  
  3. Spoon the chili crisp over the cabbage and top the chicken with sesame seeds and green onion. 

Takes 45 minutes (plus 2 hours marinating)
