Deliciously spiced meatballs in a spicy harissa tomato sauce!
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 teaspoons Ras El Hanout
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, grated
- 1 28 ounce can crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 cup Garlic Fused Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 tablespoon harissa
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup parsley, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- Pita or flatbread for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl mix the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, and Ras El Hanout. Form into balls.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and sear for 2 minutes per side. Add the onion and tomato paste and saute for 2 minutes. Mix in the tomatoes, harissa, chickpeas, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper. Partially cover and simmer for 15 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
- While the meatballs cook, mix the yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, parsley, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper together.
- When the meatballs are cooked through serve with yogurt and flatbread.
